Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Valier FBC based on the foundational truths taught in the scriptures. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, although written by human authors, is the divinely inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. We believe it is God's revelation of Himself to mankind and is inerrant in the original manuscripts.

God
We believe that there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each with their own distinct attributes but sharing one essence. God is infinitely unchanging, and sovereign over all of creation.

God the Father
God is a faithful, loving and compassionate Father who hears and answers the prayers of His children. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise.

God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came to earth as fully man and fully divine. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He came to fulfill the law and through His substitutionary death on the cross made a provision for the redemption of all mankind from sin.

God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells inside the heart of all believers and both convicts and guides us through the process of sanctification as we become more like Christ.

Man
We believe that all of mankind is created in the image of God. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. Man became separated from God through sinful disobedience. In His infinite mercy, God provided a way for salvation and redemption to all who believe and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior.

Salvation
We believe that Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification.

The Church
We believe that the church is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes and its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons.

Baptism & The Lord's Supper
We believe in and observe believer’s baptism which is an outward act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s internal faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

The Family
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is through the institution of the family that God reveals the union that exists between Christ and His church.
